CURLYFEATURE – MEET Leslie

My number one rule for maintaining my natural hair is to ensure my hair remains moisturized. The dryer your hair is the brittle it becomes and you risk breakage and damage to your beautiful, curly, and natural hair. I have used Cantu and Shea Moisture products my entire natural journey. I have just recently dove into using ManeChoice and As I am. And to my surprise, none have stripped my hair of its moisture. (more…)...

CURLYFEATURE – MEET Avamaria

Hey friends! I began my natural hair journey in 2013! I decided to go natural when I was looking back at old pictures of my hair when I was in middle school and couldn't believe how long and curly my hair used to be. I wanted my hair back! In high school, I was obsessed with straightening my hair which caused a lot of heat damage and dryness to my curls and a lot of money wasted on all the Brazilian treatments I did. (more…)...

CURLYFEATURE – MEET Jasmine

Hey Curly Ladies! My name is Jasmine, and this is my second time going natural. The first time I transitioned for two years. I started in 2012 as what I would call a "straight natural," meaning it wasn't relaxed, but I kept it straightened. I experienced lots of heat damage, and I was unhappy with my ends being straight. After two years, I gave up. I relaxed my hair and wore a short cut. I guess I got sucked in from all the cute short styles I would see on Pinterest. This style was short lived, and after 5 months I decided to do the "Big Chop." This was August 2014, not to mention I was 8 months pregnant.  Honestly, what motivated me was wanting to see and experience my true curl pattern. In my opinion, returning natural by doing the "Big Chop," was the BEST decision I've ever made for my hair. It was a chance to start over. This...

Hey Curly Sisters! My name is Juliette and I would love to tell you all about my journey. Since I was about 6 years old, My hair was relaxed. That's 21 years of not knowing my natural texture!!! I always wanted to be natural, but was too scared to actually take the plunge. I let everyone's interpretation of what "beauty" was influence me and I was tired of it. So summer of 2015 I did the big chop and it was the best decision I have ever made. I've never felt so free and so beautiful. (more…)...

CURLYFEATURE – MEET Dez

Hey ! My name is Dez and the number one rule for me when maintaining my curls has always been using little to no heat on my hair mainly meaning straightening that has always been a huge thing for me that I definitely wanted to stop that habit once I did that I could see the transformation with my curls. What fueled my passion to become natural was hanging out with my friend one night she was natural and I love her hair that's where my idea came. Also my boyfriend wanted me to try it As well so I decided hey why not let's see how long this lasts. Its has been 4 years since my transition no big chop just patience and trimming off any straight ends along the way one thing that I will end with is try not to compare your hair journey with any one else. @Miss.glenn_...

CURLYFEATURE – MEET CYNTHIA

My number 1 rule in maintaining my curls is CONSISTENCY. I have a very strict routine that I have been sticking to for years and it helped my hair to be what it is today. What fueled my passion to go natural was the health of my hair. When I was a kid I always had long thick hair but going to school in a time where natural hair wasn't accepted was tough and so I begged my mom to give me a relaxer. She always said no but she finally gave in when I was 15 years old. Initially my hair was so nice and long and I thought it was healthy. But eventually my hair started to break and get damaged. After realizing that my hair was extremely unhealthy I decided to just go natural. One summer I just told my sister to chop it off. I was met with lots of criticism from my friends and family who were...
