I’m an eighties baby and have been natural for most of my life. It’s so surreal now to have all these products tailored specifically for naturally curly hair because hunny child the struggle was real for me back then! I chemically straightened my hair for about 5 years before making the decision to go back natural. But even then I was under the misconception that I could do anything to my hair because it was natural. It was dyed every color under the sun, flat ironed, braided…. you name it, I did it!

My curl pattern changed so many times! It was not until Dec 2013 when I did another semi big chop because of heat damage, that I decided to stay away from heat and it has been the best decision I could ever make for my hair! My advice and number 1 rule for curl maintenance to anyone would be to Keep It Simple!! I do my wash day once a week (usually on weekends) and steam with a concoction of mayonnaise, castor oil, coconut oil and any steaming product I may have on hand gets mixed in. Then I shampoo and condition with Aussie Moist’s Miraculously Smooth line, moisturize with Cantu Leave In Conditioner and a dab of castor oil and thats it!

You just have to find what works for your hair type because no 2 curl patterns or textures are the same! I love my hair and its versatility and encourage anyone thinking about transitioning to take the leap! You won’t regret it! Stay beautiful dolls! xx
